Paul R. Neymeyr, born in April 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, departed this life peacefully on October 5, 2025. Paul was an embodiment of kindness and dedication, a gentle heart with a profound desire to help those around him. His commitment to public service shone brightly during his long career as an accountant with Milwaukee County, at the Milwaukee Public Museum and Behavioral Health. Often staying late and volunteering his weekends, Paul was a dedicated public servant.
Paul graduated from Nathan Hale High School before earning his baccalaureate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He often joked about his difficulty with writing and spelling, and was a whiz with a spreadsheet. Forever game for new adventures, Paul relished the opportunity to try new foods, embrace unfamiliar experiences, and participate wholeheartedly in whatever others around him desired. His penchant for dad jokes brought laughter and sometimes groans to friends and strangers alike.
Paul was an active member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church, where he served in multiple capacities over the years. His inquisitive mind led him to participate in the Interfaith Alliance, broadening his understanding of diverse spiritual practices beyond his own faith. Moreover, Paul generously devoted his time to the Warmline, an organization committed to suicide prevention, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). He enjoyed getting to know new people at Pilots International and at the Washington Park Senior Center.
Paul had a long-standing dream of traversing the country in an RV, to visit his children and go back to Orange County, the landscape of his childhood. This intent to connect further underscored the genuine love he held for family, which will continue on through his living legacy now embodied in his children: Amy, Kara, Andrew, and their beloved partners, Frank and Kathleen. His grandchildren, Dax and Van, will carry forth the joy he brought into their lives. He and his life partner, Lynne, shared a duplex and enjoyed watching shows together and conversing throughout the day. Paul often talked about going to neighborhood outdoor movies with Lynne in the summer, helping to maintain the community compost bin at the end of their block, and ensure that Halloween festivities for the local children went off without a hitch.
One of Paul’s proudest accomplishments was his dedication to helping others, highlighted by his commitment to donating blood as often as possible. This selfless endeavor mirrored the essence of who he wanted to be—a free-thinking individual fueled by compassion and driven by a desire to improve the lives of those around him.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Paul R. Neymeyr, we invite all who knew him to remember not only his contributions as a devoted public servant but also a life lived with humor and kindness. His visitation will take place at Forest Park Presbyterian Church in New Berlin, WI, on November 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where we will honor his memory.
