Richard Edward Wing, age 93, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, where he was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Shirley. Born on June 4, 1932, to the late Harry and Lillian (Pedersen), Richard lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to those he loved.
A man of deep Christian faith, Richard believed strongly in God and lived his life as a reflection of those values. He was baptized on June 13, 1932, and confirmed on March 14, 1947. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend—truly a good man and a steady, loving presence to all who knew him.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Following his service, he built a life centered on love, family, and simple joys. He and Shirley shared 64 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on August 7, 2025. Together, they created a strong and loving family grounded in respect and care for one another.
Richard found joy in life’s everyday pleasures—playing Bingo, trying his luck at slot machines, golfing with Doug, and traveling with his beloved Shirley. He also gave generously of his time as a volunteer and remained deeply devoted to his friends and family throughout his life.
For over six decades, Richard shared a life of unwavering partnership with his beloved wife, Shirley. Together they built a family founded on the principles of love and respect. Richard’s legacy lives on through his devoted children, Daryl (the late Monica) Wing and Mari (Doug) Bittl; cherished grandchildren, Christian Combs-Wing, John Wing, and Billy Wing; and nine great-grandchildren. Along with extended family and dear friends, they will forever hold Richard in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Max A. Sass Mission Hills Chapel from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
Richard’s family would like to thank Dr. Scott Fenske and Dr. Rommelfinger as well as everyone at Hickory Park.
