Ricky L. Kordus, affectionately known to many as "Cheese," from the effervescent spirit of Olivia and "Kordeye" from his high school days, left this world much like he lived in it—with boundless love and an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on June 26, 1952, in Milwaukee, Rick was a devoted family man, embodying the true essence of a loving husband and an adoring father. He fought bravely until his passing on May 16, 2025, in the city he called home.

Rick's life was illuminated by the laughter and joy shared with his wife, Maureen—who is lovingly referred to as Winky—and their cherished son, Justin. He took immense pride in the life he built with his family, and his proudest accomplishment was watching his son grow into the man he admired. The bond they shared was a tapestry woven with precious memories, countless adventures, and smiles that could brighten even the cloudiest of days.

Together, Rick and Maureen traversed through life like two explorers on a grand expedition, sharing their greatest asset—time—with each other and their loved ones. Their travels often led them on journeys to casinos, with Las Vegas being a favored destination where Rick reveled in the vibrant scenes of Triple Crowns and Royal Flushes. Whether it was roving through the exhilarating excitement of horse tracks across the country or reliving the glory days of his youth as an accomplished basketball player, the adventures they took painted Rick’s life with the colorful strokes of joy and excitement.

His engaging personality resonated deeply with all who crossed his path. He was a man of great stature, both physically, as a shooting guard who never quite mastered the art of the assist, and emotionally, as a cherished companion and staunch supporter. Rick was undeniably "Rick"—a name that meant warmth, laughter, and a touch of spirited mischief.

Rick cherished the quiet moments, taking pride in his daughter-in-law, Rachel Lucas, and reveling in the boundless joy brought by his granddaughter, Olivia. His family extended beyond bloodlines, wrapping around the hearts of his brothers—Bill (and wife Lin), Kenny (Charlie), Randy (Gail), Rob (Beth), and Gary Whitey, his brother-in-law, along with beloved sister-in-law, Libby. They stood together in remembrance, mourning the loss of the glowing light that was Rick.

He is also survived by Lorna, his beloved granddog, who always brought a smile to his face and warmth to his heart. His absence will resonate deeply, especially for his late father, Robert Kordus, and mother, Virginia Kordus, as well as Harold and Mary Shepard, his in-laws who will remember him fondly.

As those who knew him gather to celebrate his life, a Memorial Gathering will be held at the Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral and Cremation South Shore Chapel in South Milwaukee on May 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. It will be a time to honor a great man loved by all, to share stories that echo the essence of his spirit, and to reflect on the legacy he leaves behind.

Rick L. Kordus may have departed from this earthly existence, but his love, laughter, and wonderful spirit will eternally resonate in the memories and hearts of those he cherished and inspired.
