Shannon Kalan, known to those who loved her simply as Shannon, passed away on September 2, 2026, in West Allis, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 13, 1968, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Shannon lived a life marked by gentleness, passion, and thoughtfulness.

She carried these qualities with her in every season of life, touching the hearts of family members, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence brought comfort and warmth, and she was remembered for the sincere way she listened, cared, and connected with others. 

Shannon graduated from Paulski High School in June of 1986, and she went on to build her working life in the hospitality and service industries. In her work, as in her personal life, she was known for her steady kindness and her ability to make others feel welcome. She understood the value of hard work and the importance of treating people with respect, and those around her appreciated the grace and reliability she brought to every role she held. Faith was an important part of Shannon’s life, and she was a Catholic. Her beliefs helped guide her through life with strength and humility, and they were reflected in the way she loved others. She found meaning in simple moments and in the company of those closest to her. 

Shannon especially loved chatting with her friends and family, and those conversations were often filled with laughter, warmth, and the kind of honesty that deepens lifelong bonds. She also enjoyed life’s small pleasures. Shannon loved a warm cup of Folgers coffee, and it was one of the comforts she cherished most. She was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and followed her team with enthusiasm. Music was another source of joy for her, and she especially loved listening to Coldplay. Shannon also enjoyed going to car shows with her friends, where she could share good company and take in something she found interesting and fun. 

Shannon is lovingly remembered by her mother, Susan Kalan; her daughter, Alexis Kalan; her son-in-law, Ryan N.; and her granddaughter, Madelyn. She is also survived by her nieces, Carmen Therriault and Krystal Therriault, her nephew, Anton Therriault, and her close friend, John Green. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she held a special place in theirs. Her family and friends will forever remember her for the love she gave so freely and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. 

Those who knew Shannon will remember her as a woman of deep feeling and genuine care. She had a way of making others feel seen and valued, and her kindness left a lasting impression. Her gentle spirit, thoughtful nature, and passionate heart were evident in the way she lived each day. She will be missed in countless ways, from the everyday conversations that brought comfort to the shared moments that became treasured memories. Though her passing leaves a profound sadness, Shannon’s life stands as a reminder of the beauty found in love, faith, and connection. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy will remain in the family she cherished.
