Stephen Joseph McGargill, (Joe) was born on December 22, 1964, in Madison, Wisconsin, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after a prolonged illness.
Throughout his life, Joe showed remarkable dedication and resilience. Although he was not currently working due to health reasons, his devotion to his family was unwavering. He lived with his beloved mother, Kay Schara, who survives him, along with his cherished siblings, Tom, Pearl, and Tammy (Marty). Joe's family was a central part of his life, and he found great joy in being there for them, offering care and support whenever needed.
An active member of Narcotics Anonymous, Joe was truly proud of his recovery journey. He faced the challenges of addiction and emerged as a proud individual who remained clean for 15 years, serving as an inspiration to many. His story of hope and perseverance touched the lives of those around him and demonstrated the importance of support and community.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, many who have children of their own now and other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Les, two brothers, Michael and Eugene, many aunts and uncles, and grandparents who await him in eternal peace. As we remember Joe, let us celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family and friends. A celebration of his life will take place at his home at a later date.
