Susan Lee Kalan, a beloved figure in her community and family, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, in Milwaukee, WI, where she was born on March 20, 1944. Susan's journey through life was marked by her unwavering kindness, dry humor, and deep commitment to her family and faith.
A proud graduate of Pius High School in 1962, Susan embarked on a fulfilling career as a computer operator for the American Bowling Congress. Her work, though important, paled in comparison to the joy she found in her personal life, especially as a mother, grandmother, and friend.
Susan's heart was at home surrounded by her loved ones, particularly her grandchildren—Josh, Carmen, Krystel (Dustin), Anton, and Alexis (Ryan)—with whom she shared countless cherished memories. Whether it was decorating the Christmas tree, baking cookies during the holiday season, or enjoying episodes of her favorite shows, "Dark Shadows" and "Keeping Up Appearances," Susan found happiness in every moment spent with them. She delighted in the laughter and joy they brought into her life and cherished the time spent together.
As a devoted mother to her daughter's Shelby and Shannon, Susan's nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family. She formed meaningful connections with her close friend Corky and treasured the love of all of her friends, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Those who cared for her during her last days admired her sweet and kind nature, as well as the subtle but witty humor that she wielded with grace, keeping nurses and visitors on their toes.
Susan’s strong Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life, anchoring her in times of challenge and shaping her spirit of generosity. She embodied an undeniable warmth and light that touched everyone she met.
She is now reunited in spirit with her beloved husband, William Mrstik, and her cherished children, Shelby and Alan Therriault, as well as her brother Alan, her parents, and many wonderful friends who have gone before her.
Susan Lee Kalan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memory. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family and friends, who carry her spirit within their hearts. Her life serves as a reminder of the power of kindness and the importance of family, forever instilling the values she held dear in those who loved her.
