Theodore R. “Teddy” Willett, W9NHE, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Ann (née Reinhold).

Born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Teddy spent his early years in the community that shaped his character and values.

Teddy and Ann, both hailing from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they shared a devoted marriage that lasted for 49 years until Ann’s passing in 2013. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another.

Teddy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann M. Willett (née Reinhold); his cherished son, Thomas S. Willett; his parents, Frederick “Bullwinkle” Willett and Beatrice Obreast (née Smith); stepmother, Irene Willett (nee Benzel); and his sister-in-law, Ruth Willett.

Teddy was a devoted father to Brian P. (Rhoda) Willett, Paula A. (Tim) Ameen the late Thomas S. (Rebecca) Willett. He was a proud grandpa to Zachary J. (Abby) Ameen, Meghann E. (Drew) Goeman, Adam J. (Sabrina) Ameen, Mia Willett, and Ava Willett. Step grandpa to Heather L. Blanco and Holly C. (Peter) Dauzvardis. Great grandpa to Cali M. Ameen, Cora R. Ameen, Milo J. Goeman, Quinn E. Goeman, and Winnie J. Ameen. He was a dear brother to Thomas L. (Ruth) Willett and Susan (Gerald) Ford. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Teddy was a dedicated Ham radio operator for over fifty years, known by his call letters W9NHE. His passion for radio communication was evident throughout his life and career.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. During his time in Germany, Teddy spent a year and a half utilizing his Ham radio expertise as a first responder, providing essential contact and communications support. This period of service also gave him the unique opportunity to meet Johnny Cash.

Beyond his military service, Teddy continued to use his radio skills in civilian life. He volunteered for many years at the Vince Lombardi Golf Tournament, serving as their communication and rescue specialist. Through this involvement, he formed close friendships with Bart and Cherry Starr and had the pleasure of meeting several football players, as well as Bob Hope.

Teddy found great joy in the outdoors, spending countless hours as an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman. He also had a passion for golf, enjoying the game and the camaraderie it brought. Teddy was well-known for his sharp comedic sense of humor, always ready to make those around him laugh and brighten their day with his wit and lighthearted spirit.

Family, friends, and all who knew Teddy are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of his life. A memorial gathering will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Greenridge Chapel, located at 4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield, on Saturday, March 28th. The gathering will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until the start of the memorial service at 12 noon.
