Thomas J. Behrs, known to many as Tom, passed away at home in Muskego, Wisconsin, on October 26, 2026. He was born on May 1, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Tom built a career as a Quality Control Manager, serving many manufacturing companies over the years. His work included time at Rexnord, Fortress, Xylem, and Auto Zone before retiring on May 1, 2007. He was known as a very social man who made friends wherever he went, and that easy connection with others stayed with him throughout his life.
He found joy in many pastimes and brought enthusiasm to all of them. He loved horseshoes, golf, bowling, and hunting, and he also enjoyed playing softball and coaching. Time with friends around a card table was another favorite pleasure, especially when the game was sheepshead. He was also a man of routine. Each morning often began with a trip to Kwik Trip for coffee and scratch-off tickets, and 4 p.m. was cocktail hour, when he enjoyed a Manhatten. Above all, he treasured time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his children, Donna (Rick) Swinehart and Dwayne Behrs. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Cyle (Terri Kloth) Behrs Swinehart, Courtney (Zach) Dudley, Dakota (Briana) Behrs, and Brooklyn (Chris Tillmon) Behrs. As a great-grandfather, he held a special place in the lives of Jaylin, Sawyer, Daxton, Haiven, Liliana, Nova, Leo, Nico, and baby Noah on the way. He is also survived by his sisters Susi (John) Markarski, Linda Behrs and Mary Osten, along with his nephews Jake Markarski and Matt Behrs. The love of this family, and the many memories they shared with him, will continue to carry his spirit forward.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Behrs; his mother, Jeanette Behrs; and his brother, Jeffrey Behrs.
Visitation for Tom will be held on November 2, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service Westwood Chapel, W173 S7629 Westwood Drive, Muskego, WI 53150. A funeral service will follow there at 11:30 a.m.
Tom will be remembered for his sociable nature, his steady routines, his enjoyment of good company, and the deep love he had for his family. His presence will be dearly missed and warmly remembered.
