Thomas F. Kuehn January 15, 1938 – June 27, 2026

Thomas F. Kuehn, of Franklin, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 88.

Tom will be remembered for his unwavering faith, deep devotion to his family, love of music, commitment to his community and wonderful sense of humor. He lived a life centered on service, kindness and bringing joy to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Mary; his son, Joseph; his parents, Frederick and Ella Kuehn; his sister, Geraldine; and his brother, Richard. Tom is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Leona, and their children: Steve (Jenny), Marie (Mark), René (Jim), John (Beth) and Jenny (Rob); their grandchildren: Katie, Tyler (Courtney), Annie (Chris), Emily, Matthew, Jenna, Abbey, Evalána, Danny, Jim, Will, Ellery, Joseph, Ryan and Anderson; as well as their great-grandchildren, Ruby and Emma. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Born in West Allis, Wisconsin, Tom developed a lifelong love of classic cars and music at an early age. A gifted musician, he played numerous instruments, including the tuba, accordion, piano, organ, melodica and even the pan flute. He shared his talents by starting local dance bands, including The Rhythm Kings and The Mello D’s. He was a proud graduate of West Allis Central High School and organized many reunions to keep in touch with classmates over the years. He brought music, happiness and, no doubt, polkas, to countless community events and dance halls. In fact, he met the love of his life, Leona, while playing music at a dance hall in Chicago, Illinois.

Tom and Leona were married on a snowy day all those years ago. Together, they started their family in Chicago before a job opportunity led them to settle in Greendale, Wisconsin, where they created a lifetime of memories. As a father, Tom delighted in sharing his love of the outdoors with his children. Family outings often included ice skating, sledding, bicycling, gardening and more. At family cookouts, he jumped between grilling bratwurst and playing “Beer Barrel Polka” on the accordion. Music was always at the heart of family life, whether around the piano, at church or simply filling the home with song.

Professionally, Tom was proud to own Netzow’s Piano & Organ in Wauwatosa, where his joy of music was infectious for customers and colleagues alike.

As his family continued to grow, Tom and Leona found great joy in spending time with their children and grandchildren. Whether playing cards, telling stories, sharing a joke or celebrating family milestones, they treasured every opportunity to be together.

Tom’s Catholic faith guided every aspect of his life. He faithfully served his parish as a lector, sang in the church choir and was honored to serve as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was deeply engaged with the Knights of Columbus, playing music for events, tirelessly fundraising and encouraging new members. His commitment to serving both his church and community reflected the generosity and compassion that defined his life.

Thank you to the Elizabeth Residence of New Berlin for the care and compassion you provided to Tom during his time with you. Your gentleness and kindness meant the world to us.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours, 7963 S. 116th Street, Franklin, WI 53132. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Martin of Tours Parish, Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 4580 or a music education foundation of your choice.

Tom’s legacy lives on in the faith he shared, the music he loved, the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched with his generosity, laughter and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

How would Tom describe his life? Most likely with a “Das ist gut!”
