Obituary

Listen to Obituary

William L. Peterson, age 85, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026. He was born on January 21, 1941, in Minnesota, to the late Edward and Thilda (Forsness) Peterson.

William was united in marriage to Donna McSorley (nee Dolski), and together they shared 61 years of marriage. He proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged following his service to his country.

William was a true jack-of-all-trades who could always be counted on to lend a hand. He was loyal, hardworking, dedicated, and a great conversationalist who enjoyed sharing stories and spending time with others. Above all, William cherished his family and the time they spent together. He had many interests and hobbies throughout his life. He was a Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan and enjoyed gambling, bowling, golf, and deer hunting. He especially enjoyed gathering around the table for card games, including sheepshead, poker, cribbage, and pinochle.

William will be missed by his sons, Brian (Lynn Lepak-McSorley) McSorley and Hugh (Renee) McSorley; grandchildren Ashley (Alex), Brianna (John), Joseph, and Sean; great-granddaughter Sophie; sister-in-law Maryle Peterson as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Jack, Lonnie, Laurie, Ruth, and Trudy.

Visitation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Faith Community (9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners), from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
