William J. “Bill” Henderson passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 2, 2026, at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Susan MacIntosh. Loving father of Tracy (David Kelly) Henderson, Tara (Bud) Simon, and Shane (Laura) Henderson. Proud grandpa of Emma, Kaylee, Clara and William “Liam.” Dear brother of James “Janis McGowan” Henderson, Patrice (James) Henderson-Glad, and cousin to James Bretzke. Preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne (nee Bergeim) and George Henderson; his first wife, Colleen Henderson (nee Burns); and his mother- and father-in-law, Ben and Tina Burns. He is further survived by loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he endured the hardships of being a prisoner of war. His courage and dedication to service were defining aspects of his life. Beyond his service, Bill earned his doctorate in industrial psychology from Case Western Reserve University and was known as a principled leader at Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation.
He approached life with curiosity, discipline, and generosity, finding joy in music, athletics, and the outdoors – whether hiking the Appalachian Trail, cross-country skiing, sailing Lake Michigan, or sitting at the piano.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. Please check back for updates on the time and location of the gathering.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name would be appreciated to the Fisher House, honoring his legacy and commitment to supporting others at https://www.fisherhousewi.org/william-henderson.
